Beautiful sunny day for hang gliders and friends

Well we finally got a day with warm sunshine and the winds really died down.This evening a hang glider flew above our camp just having some fun before the sun went down,free as a bird! Our  friend Mike from Iowa came over to enjoy the campfire as he moved back in town and they can't have them there,we will miss seeing his face everyday but he's not too far for visiting.We've met quiet a few new people this year and became friends,that's what it's all about!!

Cloudy & cool on Friday then Clear on Sat. at Quartzsite,Az.

Weather on the desert can change day by day.On Friday it was cloudy and cool all day and was suppose to be 72 but didn't reach that high.On Sat. it is clear skies with a slight breeze and sunny.Just blink and it can change!! The big tent show is almost over so lots of folks pulling out.The town won't be so hectic to get around once some people leave.

Campfire and friends

Had a great time with friends around the campfire last night.Met 2 new couples from Canada and a man from Iowa.Us women had some wine and the guys coffee.Got acquainted while the guys told jokes and we just laughed and had a good time.One of the great things about traveling is meeting new people and making new friends.

Finally some rain last night in Quartzsite

Well the rain finally came last night and the sky was beautiful,could see the sheets of rain at a distance.Left everything fresh today but have that cold north winds blowing.Suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow and rest of the week.I'm ready for it!!

Our friend Jack,the wood guy.

This is our friend Jack who brings us our wood for campfires while were out here in the desert.He is quiet the character and has a great laugh and always joking around.The log on the bottom had a smiley face on it,how cool is that!!We named it Jack!We've known him for 3 season's now and he's a great guy,always wants a huge fire and a cup of coffee!

At the show here in Quartzsite they have all kinds of things to buy including antiques such as these old tricycles and the old cars that you peddle and tractors too.There is an array of things to buy or just looky loos.

New Quartzsite sign

Quartzsite has new signs at all the entries into the city,they look nice and those wire mesh things are new plant life that will decorate the front.As many visitors that they get for the winter they can afford it so why not.The desert is filling up fast as the big tent opens Sat.

Miss Bella loves her new home

Our sweet pup Bella is adjusting well to her new home.We have more room to play fetch and she plays until she's tired.She likes to lay on the hubby's lap in the recliner and watch tv.I think she loves it as much as we do.

Clouds make for a beautiful sunrise on the desert.We had just a few drops of rain a couple times today but cloudy and cool all day.Who knows what kind of weather we will have tomarrow,it can change in  a flash!!

Our friends came to see our new rig

Our friends from Texas Reece&Dody on the left and friends from Idaho Judy & Dan on the right came to see our new rig.They loved it and said the parties at your place!We sat around and exchanged stories and had a real good visit.It's always great to see friends you made along the way.I almost forgot Dagwood Reece's dog who likes to play with Bella who always growls at him but they like each other.

Quartzsite Vendors

Bought the hubby a new chair from this vendor out of Cool,Calif. The giant chair caught our attention so we checked it out and found the one he wanted.It has a small soft ice chest on one side and table with cup holder on the other,he loves it! More and more people are rolling into the desert to find that special camping spot.

Big tent in Quartzsite,Az.

The Big Tent in Quartzsite is set up and almost ready to go.Soon it will be filled with vendors from all over selling there wares.More and more snowbirds are flocking in to see the show and meet up with their friends and family.It's getting hard to get around town for even simple things but it will only be for a short while.I say let the fun begin!

Beautiful full moon in the desert

The full moon was awesome tonight,at first it looked like a heart just coming over the mountain.Then as it got higher in the sky it was very full and put out a beautiful glow over the desert.It was a very warm day so finally got to soak up some sun! 70's in the winter....not bad!!

Our new 5th wheel

We are now proud new owner's of a 34 1/2 ft. fifth wheel with 3 slides.It is very open and spacious with darker wood.Took us 3 days to transfer everything from a smaller trailer to the 5th wheel.It's just unbelievable how much stuff you collect over a few years.The hard work is done and now maybe we can relax and enjoy it!

Nice day for gliders

Beautiful clear and warm day for some gliders to enjoy the views of the desert.Big difference from yesterday,no clouds in site today!!We took a drive to Parker for some shopping and it was quiet warm,72 degrees but felt warmer.

Clouds floating through Quartzsite

Had some clouds roll in this morning for a couple hours.Kinda neat swishes in the bottom pic.They stayed around until about noon and then clear blue skies again,not as warm as yesterday but still low 70's.The desert weather can change in a heartbeat which makes for an interesting day at times!

Visit from our friends

Today was a great way to start out the New Year.We had a visit from 4 of our past buddies we made here in the desert.They are camping somewhere different this year but not too far off for us to visit each other.One couple is from Texas and the other from Idaho and we keep in touch by phone or the internet.It was very nice to see them  and did some catching up.
We were invited to a fish fry at some new friends we made at our Christmas dinner.Lots of good food and we played a game and won prizes.So we had a full day with fun and laughter with friends both old and new.Life is good!!
