New Years Eve,Quartzsite,Az.

Well another year is on it's way out and a New Year about to begin.It was a beautiful warm day and this evening is very comfortable.Alot more folks starting to roll in but still not as many yet as last year.Most people are out having a nice campfire but haven't seen or heard too much action,but it's early still.It's been a great year of meeting new people and making new friends on our workamping jobs and in our travels.Looking forward to more in the new year.Hope everyone has a safe and happy celebration bringing in the New Year!!

Beautiful weather in the desert

Looks like it's going to be in the 70's for a week here in Quartzsite Az.I'm coming down with the flu of all things so I hope I get well fast so I can enjoy this perfect weather.Still cool in the mornings and at night but the days are warm and blue skies.Not that many folks rolling in yet but probably after the 1st of the year when the big tent goes up.Hope it's a great day in your world!!

Christmas Dinner with friends

Our friends Tom and Alice have a Christmas dinner every year and invite alot of people to join in La Posa - South,Quartzsite,Az.Tom is a country western singer and intertains while we get the tables set up and food ready to serve.We had plenty of food,tukey,ham,dressing,mashed potatoes & Gravy,4 or 5 salads,veggies and 4 pies and cookies for dessert.The weather was perfect,sunny and warm.A good time and made some new friends,that's what it's all about.

Arrived in Quartzsite,Az.

Arrived in Arizona yesterday about 7pm,we did miss the beautiful sunsets and sunrises here.We're thinking of maybe upgrading to a 5th wheel and looking at Cedar Creek by Forest River.Anyone have any input on this manufacturer,if so please leave a comment.

Fredricksburg,Texas

Fredricksburg is a quaint little town in Texas that we visited while passing through on our way to Az. The shops downtown were all decorated for Christmas and had lots of goodies to choose from.The wooden tree is a German tree and on display in the square. Many of the buildings and homes are made from stone or rock,very beautiful!

Done with Gate Guard Job....3days in San Antonio

Well we ended our job as Gate Guards and decided to stay 3 days in San Antonio and see some sights.Went to The Riverwalk,The Hemisphere,The Alamo and Japanese Gardens and Botanical Gardens. It has been a fun filled visit and suggest it as a great place to see.We leave tomarrow to go to Fredicksburg,Tx. on another new adventure!

Rain....rain and more rain

Southern Texas is finally getting much needed rain and more on the way.Isn't the idea weather to work in cause now we have lots of mud everywhere and the  big rigs are getting stuck or sliding in it.A few days of sun and wind will dry it out fast but don't see that happening real soon.

Weather warms up

The weather warmed up some with sun and blue skies.The best part is the north winds finally stopped and can wear sweatshirts instead of big coats.It's been pretty mellow at work the last few days but have some rigs moving in next week so will be busy! Enjoying slow for now,nice to have a break.

Sighting of huge Boar

Got my first look at the huge Boar on the lands out here where we work.Just happen to be looking down the road and one crossed,tall as a calf and very fast for something that large.Tried to get a pic cause he came around on another road but wasn't quick enough.There were 4 does standing close by and even they took off in a different direction after seeing the boar!! Not something I care to meet up with that's for sure.

Cold weather has arrived

The rain is gone for now and replaced with cold north winds.Low's in the 30's and next couple of days only going to be in the mid 40's during the day. We are bundled up and look like mummy's but that cold brisk air cuts to the bone.Suppose to be back to the 60's by the weekend and possible showers,anything's better then these north winds!!

Finally some rain for Texas

The rain finally came and it rained real hard and lots of wind in the am.It's just a mist going on this evening but at least it's someting.Only bad thing is the messy mud it leaves behind.Makes for a beautiful sunset! Our company provides us with a big light plant and generator which is great at night while signing in trucks.

Big coyotes roaming at night

We've been hearing the coyotes at night but now there starting to appear just down our road.Our security guy who drives around at night captured one caught under a fence and he was huge!! The hunter's have been trying to get him cause he eats there corn bait for there boar hunts.Have to take my pup out early before dark so she doesn't become a meal for them!

Warm weather in Texas and they need the rain

Well the weather is still warm and dry,highs today in mid 70's  and does get cold at night and mornings.Expecting rain on Fri.,Sat. and Sun. so we'll see if it happens,last time it was maybe 2hrs. and that was it.Texas is definetly in another drought year and maybe for years from what the news said this morning.Ranchers are selling there cattle and some even there farms cause they have no water.All I can say is pray for some rain even a little is better then none.

Oil Rig move

This is the derrick to an oil rig that was moved today from our location,the Nomac 3.Actually this was a small one compared to others.Everything went smooth and our trailer is still standing!!Alot goes into moving a rig,it's unbelievable at the equipment and big house trailers which is living quarters and office areas that have to be moved off location.Well glad the worst is over,now I can relax a little.Interesting stuff to see though.

More cows

A cow came down the road with 3 calfs,don't know if they are all hers,as you can see there all different colors and the one on the left has small horns.He was cute and frisky and head butting with one of the others.Mama was kind of elusive and couldn't get a good shot of her. The hunter's are showing up and they have wild boar here,hope we don't meet up with one of those. They put out corn for deer and the boar's eat it all.Also seen a huge coyote this evening,I guess they have quiet a few on the ranch. Will have to keep an eye on my pup so she doesn't become a meal!!

Busy day today on the job

Going to be a busy one today as we have a rig moving to another site and some big loads coming through most of the day.It's amazing how much work goes into setting up and breaking down a rig.The hubby and I both have to work the gate to keep the trucks on the move so they don't get backed up on the main road.Weather is suppose to be cooling a bit so that helps too,we sat up our canopy just in case it stays hot or we get rain. Should be interesting!!

Home on the range,wandering cow

I love cows and at first I thought this was a bull and kinda leary of staying outside but it was just a mellow cow grazing. It's open range on the ranches here so that's why we have a gate that has to be closed at all times unless we have a run of trucks come through.See decided to come on over and eat the green grass behind our trailer that I call my yard,even have wild orange lantana's growing,hope she doesn't eat those! She reminds me of a giant dalmation dog cause of her colors.

Loma security guard vest,shirts and hat

We got our vest and shirts and Jess got a hat with our Loma security loco today.Was a busy day with lots of trucks coming through.Rig move put off till Friday.Gusty wind and dirt blowing most of the afternoon.
Our company man brought us a cooked turkey for Thanksgiving,yum I can't wait!! That was a really nice gesture.
